Natural Recreation - A New Rhythm for Environmental Protection
Everyone has a routine rhythm of life. For example, we may be accustomed to buying a takeaway cup of coffee from a chain coffee shop before going to work every day, and then putting it in a corrugated paper ring to insulate it. After drinking the coffee, for reasons of convenience and hygiene, we will discard the paper cup in the trash can, and it will be sent to the landfill. Although not all of our friends drink coffee, our lifestyle habits often make us spend unnecessary resources without realizing it. Between "convenient living" and "green living", can we continue to strive to find space and creativity, and try new rhythms and new routines?
Any pleasant piece of music needs a moderate amount of variation. Let your children create their own rhythm and discover the wonderful uses of seemingly garbage things, so that they can reflect on their own living habits, cherish things and reduce waste, and create a new green rhythm. Our nature play was used to inject educational content of “waste less” into the “Green Community Day” held by the Early Childhood Education Centre of the Department of Childhood, Elderly and Community Services of the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Shatin) at the Nursery Park in the West Kowloon Cultural District on 2 December 2017. To support environmental education, we have come up with a creative idea and teamed up with a group of young music enthusiasts, vewah music, to set up two free community games, using some materials that would otherwise become garbage to create innovative and fun percussion instruments. Not only can adults and children have fun playing Nanta, they can also enjoy Nanta performances by musicians and make environmentally friendly musical instruments together. After the games and activities are over, children and adults can go home and continue to use their brains, make their own musical instruments, and hold a family concert! Just think about it, do you have children at home who are about to grow up and need new shoe boxes, toilet paper rolls that are used up every week, empty milk powder cans, etc. "Use your hands, use your brain, and transform them!" All of them can be turned into interesting and fun musical instruments. Here we introduce three simple homemade musical instruments. The process from making to playing can inspire children's imaginative musical creativity. It is an interesting toy for the family to play on weekends or when relatives and friends visit:
1. Materials for the shoebox guitar : 6 rubber bands, 2 short saplings, 1 long thick branch, 1 shoebox, kraft tape, pen, cutter Steps: 1. Place the kraft paper on the flat surface of the shoe box and draw a circle, then use a cutter to cut a hole
2. Wrap the rubber band around the outside of the shoe box
3. Place two short branches under the elastic band
4. Then, stick a long thick branch to the back of the shoe box.
5. The shoebox guitar is ready 2. Paper tube flute materials: paper tube, paper, straw, pencil, scissors, cutter, pencil, tape
Steps: 1. On a piece of thin waste paper, draw two circles with a paper tube, cut out the circles, and stick them on both sides of the paper tube.
2. Cut a thin rectangle in the middle of the paper tube.
3. Press the straw slightly flat, or cut it into different lengths and stick it on the top of the narrow rectangle in the middle. 4. The paper tube flute is completed. When playing the flute, press your fingers lightly on the round hole of the paper tube. The length of the paper tube changes, and different tones are produced.
3. Tin can drum materials: scissors, hemp rope, large adhesive tape, large tin can, 2 branches
Steps: Stick hemp rope on both sides of the tin can and the tin can drum is completed.
