Why can vibrating objects produce sound? From a scientific perspective, how do sounds come about? The leaf flute was originally a traditional Chinese musical instrument, and there are documented records of it going back more than 1,500 years. The great Tang Dynasty poet Bai Juyi also mentioned in his poems the sound of a jade flute played by rolling leaves.
