In 1995, Sing Tao Sunshine School selected 15 stories from the "Auntie Hua's Storytelling Series" and compiled them into a story picture book with exquisite color illustrations. Hua EE has many stories ready to share with everyone. In the past, Hua EE shared her creative stories every week in <<Hong Kong Sing Tao Sunshine Campus>>. Regarding the experience of reading the story, Hua EE believes:
1. Reading stories is priceless. It is such a valuable experience for parents to enjoy reading with their children, or for parents to read stories to their children or for children to read stories to their parents! If there is something that money cannot buy, it is a priceless treasure. Do parents realize that they have paved a smooth path for their children's studies, future life direction and career?
2. Why is reading stories so important? Words influence a person's ability to think and behave. If a person can master a rich vocabulary, his or her expressive ability will be improved and he or she will be able to use words more fluently in daily life. The better your writing skills are, the more you can discover and develop your personal potential. Possessing good communication skills helps build relationships with elders and peers. The more a child can express his or her inner feelings and emotions, the more it helps the development of his or her character.
3. In daily life, parents can help their children improve their reading ability. In addition to story reading, you can also read the text that you can observe in the surrounding environment, such as advertisements, slogans, newspapers, magazines, food packaging and signs, etc. Go to the library to apply for library cards for your child, listen to what your child says and know his or her interests, give your child a variety of choices, do homework with your child, play games and read or listen to stories, be sincere to your child and set rules and promises, communicate with your child in a positive and optimistic manner, hug your child and tell your child "I love you", etc. These are all good ways to improve children's speech and writing skills in daily life.
4. After reading and listening to the story, the educational significance of the extended activities can enhance children’s various thinking abilities and methods, including improving and training their knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, evaluation, creativity and imagination, and association, etc.
5. How to read stories with children? Parents can choose an appropriate time and place, such as before bedtime, talk about pictures and illustrations, play with words, express the words vividly with sounds, and enjoy reading. The ideal situation is to be able to hug and be close to your child, without necessarily reading every word of the story. The same story can be read repeatedly or in role-playing format. Parents can read, children can read alone, or everyone can read together. The most important thing is that everyone enjoys the reading process.
