In July 2016, the Consumer Council released a report testing 60 bath products, finding that more than half of the bath products contained dioxin and 27 were found to contain allergenic preservatives. The test results are worrying. The Consumer Council recommends that consumers should read the product ingredient information carefully. People with sensitive skin should avoid using products containing MIT, CMIT and formaldehyde-releasing ingredients. They should also pay attention to any abnormal skin reactions after use.
We are curious and think about what the world would be like without soap. Why do humans need to use chemical materials in soap? What effects do those chemical materials have on the human body? Why do we take a bath and use bath products to clean our bodies? What materials are actually used in bath products such as soap, and how are they made? These questions are not only what children want to know, but also what adults are curious about.
I believe that many mothers start to take care of the little angels in their belly from the moment they become pregnant, and do some research on their food, clothing, housing and transportation. The Nature Play Hand Soap Workshop creates a space for children and adults to work together to learn about soap, create unique gift packaging and tell stories. For children, this is not just a game, the soap-making process is actually the application of natural science. The children who participated in the activity had a better understanding of soap and thought more about topics such as why we need to take a bath. The workshop also allows children to use their creativity and exercise their fine muscles to make soap for themselves. It was actually a lively chemistry art class!
