Finding the source of music
Why can bamboo tubes of different lengths produce different sounds? From a scientific perspective, how do sounds come about? Why don’t we start from the basics, let children understand sounds, and feel the music with their own bodies.
In the busy city, our ears are accustomed to the sounds of cars, road construction, and record players, and we seem to have forgotten the basic sounds of nature. When you are on the farm, close your eyes, take a deep breath, and listen carefully...you will receive the sounds of nature; the chirping of birds, the sound of farmers hoeing, the sound of children playing, the rustling of leaves, the chirping of cicadas, the buzzing of bees...all together, they are the performance of nature.
Let's go to the farm, enjoy the farm life, and make a bamboo flute by ourselves with our hands. We create an environment for parents and children to make bamboo flutes together. Children play music with their mouths, using their bodies as instruments, and using air, force and bamboo to produce beautiful sounds.
Through " Natural Play @ Finding the Source of Music " , we made our own pan flutes on the farm, told stories, did some farm work and gave guided tours of the farm, hoping that the children would become more curious about bamboo and use their creativity to make bamboo flutes. On weekdays, you can buy a shepherd's flute at a stationery store for more than 30 yuan. It is so convenient! Now, children can work hard on the farm for a while, and then make their own bamboo flute with their own hands. It feels especially good to play it. I believe that this way of initiating children’s love for music is more interesting and natural than just having them practice in class.
