Little sparrow's date

A small natural paradise in the city: a lifelong gift for children

Have you ever noticed the little sparrows hopping from branch to branch in city parks? They're constantly foraging, playing, and exploring the world, just like our children, full of curiosity and energy. Even in the urban fabric of Hong Kong, children still have the opportunity to connect with nature like these little sparrows—through "Nature Play," a series of nature-focused activities and park play spaces designed specifically for children aged two to six and their parents.

Kowloon Park-Treasure Hunt - Nature Play in the City

In our specially designed little world, children don't just play; they explore and create, gradually accumulating the power of growth. Here, there are nature art workshops, park treasure hunts, and heartwarming parenting inspiration sharing sessions. Each session injects positive energy into children's mental and character development.

Nature Art Handicrafts: Create your own works with your little hands

At Nature Art Crafts, children will create unique natural artworks using natural materials like leaves, pebbles, twigs, and flower petals. This not only develops their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills, but also fosters their ability to observe and appreciate beauty. From selecting materials to conceiving and combining them, every step requires focus and imagination. While creating, they also learn to discover beauty in nature and express themselves. Upon completion, the sense of accomplishment and parental recognition they gain will sprout like seeds in their hearts, forming the foundation for self-confidence and independence.

Park Treasure Hunt: Learning Concentration and Problem Solving Through Adventure

The park treasure hunt is like a mysterious adventure, transforming an ordinary park into a map full of surprises. Children need to observe carefully and use their hearts to discover those special "treasures"—perhaps a uniquely shaped leaf, a small stone of a unique color, or even a chirping sparrow perched on a branch. During the treasure hunt, they naturally learn to focus, organize, and categorize information, and through interacting with their peers, they experience the importance of teamwork. When they encounter difficulties in finding clues, they will try to observe from different angles or adjust their methods. This problem-solving process is the perfect opportunity to cultivate flexible thinking and sustained concentration.

Parenting inspiration: Growing up with your children

In addition to providing children with playtime, "Nature Play" also offers parenting inspirational content specifically for parents. These content focuses on the developmental needs of children aged 2 to 6, offering practical and thoughtful parenting tips to help parents be more creative and patient with their children. Parents will discover that when children are given appropriate freedom and encouragement, they naturally develop self-discipline, empathy, and caring qualities. Furthermore, time spent playing together strengthens the bond between parents and children and inadvertently establishes positive life role models for children.

The study, led by Dr. Helen Norman of the University of Leeds in the UK, analyzed data from nearly 5,000 British families (children born between 2000 and 2002). The results found that if fathers frequently interact with their three-year-old children, such as reading, drawing, playing games, telling stories, singing, etc., the children will perform better in school at the age of five and continue to lead in key stage assessment scores at the age of seven. This positive impact is not limited to gender, race, income or school age background. In comparison, mothers have a greater influence on emotional and social development, while fathers have a unique effect on academic achievement. The study began on April 1, 2021, and ended on June 30, 2023. The final report was released in September 2023. Ten minutes of interaction a day can bring significant results.

Nature Play in the City - Parent-Child Play Day

Although childhood is brief, it's a crucial stage in shaping a child's life. "Nature Play" experiential activities allow children to experience the warmth of nature and build real connections with it, even in the bustling city. Through play, they learn to explore the world; through interaction, they learn to care for others; and through challenges, they learn to believe in themselves.

So next weekend, why not take your children’s hands and walk into this small natural paradise in the city, and embark on a parent-child treasure hunt with the little sparrows.
