Nature Art
Nature Play is committed to promoting environmentally friendly art life. In November 2016, we worked with a major shopping mall in Hong Kong to come up with six types of food waste, including sprouted potatoes, pumpkin seeds, corn cobs, banana peels, walnut shells, and turnips. We transformed things that most people would immediately throw into the trash into beautiful, creative, and unique works of art. We train community mothers to promote the design of natural play to families, so that parents can learn about these various parent-child play methods and then have fun with their babies at home.
We hope to bring an interesting topic to the community: Can we have a broader imagination for small everyday items? The " shells " and " walnut shells " that you usually throw away after eating , the " glass bottles " and " plastic bottles " that you throw away after drinking , the used " small towels " , the " small socks " that you can no longer wear, etc. . . For these materials that are about to be sent to the landfill, we can stop, think, use our little minds, and re-establish meaning for them. During holidays/weekends/after-school time , can children temporarily put aside their exam goals, apply what they have learned in school, use different tools, and start creative thinking with their families? Nature play allows children in the community to explore and create with a variety of small items from nature. We invite skilled mothers in the community to work with their children to use different tools and design with their hearts to create unique works to give to their families. We hope to train children's design thinking and problem-solving skills through these activities. The above experience is not just about playing, but also about starting a parallel training of the mind and practice.
We are grateful to the sponsors for the venue and the adjustment of operation procedures for the nature play activities, so as to process the natural/environmentally friendly materials that were about to be discarded for the children to make crafts . We carefully select materials and design experiential learning activities so that children can learn through play, practice environmentally friendly living and improve their creative handcrafting skills. After completing their own unique works of art, the children all felt a sense of pride. They never imagined that they could create a piece of art with their own hands.
